Emergency Procedures: What to Do When Things Don’t Go as Planned

“Failing to plan is planning to fail,” they say, and at Skyhigh India, we take this to heart. Located in Narnaul, Haryana, not-too-far from Delhi, we are committed to being the best skydiving place in India by ensuring every aspect of your jump is meticulously planned, including potential emergencies.

Skydiving, while exhilarating, involves inherent risks. That’s why we emphasise thorough training on emergency procedures. Our instructors teach you how to handle various scenarios, ensuring you’re prepared for the unexpected.

Key Emergency Procedures:

Main Parachute Malfunction: If your main parachute fails to deploy correctly, follow your instructor’s guidance on deploying the reserve chute. This involves pulling the cutaway handle to release the main chute and then pulling the reserve handle.

Line Twists: If the parachute lines become twisted, remain calm. Kick your legs to untwist the lines while holding the toggles steady.

Hard Pull: If you struggle to pull the ripcord, use both hands and try different angles. If it remains stuck, proceed to deploy the reserve parachute.

Mid-Air Collision: Maintain awareness of other divers. If a collision occurs, follow your training on separating safely and deploying your parachute if needed.

Instructor-Led Safety: Every tandem skydiving session at Skyhigh India includes a certified instructor who oversees all safety measures. Their experience and quick decision-making are crucial in managing any emergencies.

Post-Emergency Protocol: After resolving any in-air issues, focus on a controlled descent and safe landing. Once on the ground, debrief with your instructor to discuss the incident and learn from the experience.

At Skyhigh India, your safety is our priority. By preparing for emergencies and understanding the necessary procedures, we ensure that you can fully enjoy the thrill of skydiving with confidence.
